You never know where you’ll be called to step next.
You may be just walking along, and suddenly find yourself out on a narrow ledge where you’ve never ventured before. Suddenly you’re in a new location with new vistas.
Lotus had never ventured onto the top of my air conditioner before, although it’s been there for her whole life. But last week, for some reason, she noticed it and decided to check it out. What got into her? I guess she felt called to explore.
You can’t become aware of something until you do. Waking up is a mystery. But once you notice something, you can’t un-notice it. That’s how awareness grows.
And once you feel called to explore, and choose to answer that call . . . Well, you just may find yourself in a whole new place, with a whole new view.
By admin, on March 25th, 2011 Spiritual Creatives are insightful, intuitive, and imaginative, tender-hearted and passionate. We’re great at receiving inspired visions and getting excited about them. We are not always equally great at manifesting those visions. Taking assertive action and putting ourselves forward does not come easily to most of us.
In fact, we often shrink from the idea of promoting ourselves, of selling our services, of competing in the marketplace. This was certainly true of me for most of my life. The world can seem overwhelming and frightening when you’re a sensitive soul.
Hence, we end up hiding more than we need to, to protect ourselves from possible hurt. Not only do we have thin skins; we also have high ideals. Selling often seems crass and unspiritual to us, something we shouldn’t have to do.
But it is time to free ourselves from these self-imposed limits, because this is the time when the world needs us the most. Our gifts are called for now.
The very capacities that Spiritual Creatives have in abundance – creative thinking, intuitive connections, spiritual guidance, and a desire to serve – are exactly what are needed to bring our earth and our human family onto the path of healing.
We are being called from within – from the longing of our own soul to be all that we can be – and from without – by the world’s true and urgent need.
I’ve come to the conclusion that Spiritual Creatives are the people with the greatest gifts to give AND the ones who have the hardest time getting those gifts into the world.
That’s why I am dedicated to helping you free yourself from whatever is holding you back – be it issues around money, success, marketing, and self value; or lack of clarity in your vision and purpose. Whatever it takes, I want to see you bloom.
Because only when enough souls bloom will the earth have a chance to finally become the garden we dream of
By admin, on March 25th, 2011 Many of the people I work with, play with, and are friends with are what I call “Spiritual Creatives.” This includes artists, healers, counselors, coaches, and transformational entrepreneurs of all kinds. Spiritual Creatives are idealists who would also like to be realists, who seek to live soul-powered, inspired lives, serve the higher good, and make a decent living at the same time.
Perhaps you are a Spiritual Creative yourself.
If you recognize yourself in this, you have probably been on a path of personal and spiritual development and awakening for a number of years. You doubtless have many gifts to give the world, and those gifts are knocking at the door, wanting to be let out.
You may have a deep sense that you were born for a purpose, even if you’re not quite sure what that is. You know you want to make a difference, to help others, to make the world a better place. You may believe you have some role to play in the historic shift of consciousness taking place at this time. I believe you do too!
I have always felt poignantly the gap between the potential within each of us and what does or does not get actualized.
That gap is particularly painful when it comes to Spiritual Creatives, who have so much to give, and whose gifts are so badly needed by the world at this time. And yet we may be the very folks who have the hardest time getting our gifts out into the world.
I include myself in this category and, as a late bloomer, I am finally letting my light shine out from under that bushel. Why this is I will go into more in my next post.
By admin, on March 6th, 2011 Sometimes it feels safer to hide, as Lotus well knows.
I know it too. I spent a lot of my life watching from the sidelines, afraid to jump in.
For instance, as a child I was afraid to jump in to games of jump rope. What if I tripped and fell on my face? What if I got laughed at?
As an adult, I had a lot I wanted to do and give – but it didn’t feel safe to be so visible. What if people didn’t like what I offered?
There are times when retreating and regrouping are exactly what’s needed. There are times when watching prepares us to act. There are times when we have to make sure we feel safe, above all.
And then there are times when we’re ready to take a risk, to start moving forward . . . one foot at a time.
As Anais Nin said, there comes a day when “the risk to remain tight in a bud” becomes more painful than “the risk it [takes] to blossom.”
Hiding is fine at certain times . . so long as it doesn’t become a habit. So long as you’re willing to finally come out and play!
By admin, on February 14th, 2011 Today is Valentine’s Day, and everywhere the talk is of love. But I would rather speak to whatever may light up your heart. For that is the only thing that really matters.
When it comes to your heart’s desire, Lotus and I have one piece of advice: GO FUR IT!
And that may require a S-T-R-E-T-C-H.
What is your heart’s HIGHEST desire? What is the greatest joy and fulfillment you can imagine? Do you even dare to let yourself dream that big???
How long has it been since you let yourself contemplate what you deeply love and long for, including the visionary goals and ideals that inspire you?
Sometimes, when we’ve buried our dreams for too long, it hurts to even look in their direction.. . Continue reading Go For Your Heart’s Desire
By admin, on February 3rd, 2011 One thing I’ve discovered in the last few years is that if you want to grow, you have to learn to stretch.
Stretching beyond my comfort zone has proven to be almost a magic formula for creating results. I think that moving into our fear zone demonstrates our commitment, our willingness to risk, and that elicits a vote of confidence from the universe. We have to show we really mean it – and then things start to line up.
So much of my life I was waiting for the universe to move first. Or for some other kind of proof or guarantee, before I would step forward and take a chance.
And the first few times I stepped beyond my prior limits were pretty terrifying.
But as I’ve noticed how often life has come to meet me “more than half way,” stretching has become exciting, exhilarating, a pleasure in itself. It’s now something I look forward to.
One thing’s for sure, though – It really helps to stay flexible!
By admin, on January 27th, 2011 In a recent post I described the two voices within us - the one coming from our Higher Self and the other coming from our ego, or conditioned, or lower self.
It’s very important that we become conscious of these two voices, with their different motivations, these two sources of direction within us. We have to first make them conscious before we can work with them. Most of the time Ego-mind is what we take to be the voice of truth. We are not conscious of it as a voice within us with a particular agenda. Because it uses fear to control us, we are quick to believe it.
I think we are quick to believe this voice because fear taps into a very primal, primitive, survival instinct that is hard-wired into every one of us. Any hint of fear tends to make us fear for our survival, and that always takes priority!
In order to explore these questions, you need to hear both voices. You need to make room for the message of your Higher Self, with its vision of your highest potential, the purpose your soul took form for in this life. This is what inspires you, and lights you up. And this is where your greatest SUCCESS will come from, as well! . . . Continue reading Receiving Guidance, Releasing Fear

As we move into the new year, it is appropriate to take some moments in self-reflection. Look at who you’ve been, and who you are becoming. And make sure to appreciate your own beauty.

Take a deep look at who you really are, and let yourself experience the sweetness of your soul gazing back at you.

When you reflect on who you’ve been in the past year, do not brood or give in to the temptation to judge yourself . . . you know that never helps!

Instead, look yourself straight in the eye, unflinchingly, and accept whatever you see there . . . the good and the bad, the ugly and the beautiful, the mundane and the sublime. . . You in your wholeness!
You in your purrfection!
HERE’S TO THE NEW YEAR. . .
AS WE EMBARK ON THIS AUSPICIOUS MONTH OF 1/11, LET US DRAW UPON OUR POWER AS CREATIVE BEINGS, STEP INTO THE FULLNESS OF OUR POTENTIAL, AND CONTRIBUTE OUR GIFTS TO THE UPLIFTMENT OF OURSELVES AND THOSE AROUND US.
May you be happy, healthy, and keep your sense of humor in the coming year!
With love and blessings,
Tomar
p.s. There will be more “Lessons from Lotus” coming your way in the year to come!
By admin, on January 5th, 2011 Look at yourself unflinchingly, straight in the eye. What do you see? Do you see the familiar image of every day? Do you see who you’ve always seen, your self-image, the one who goes by your name? Stay with it longer. See if you can look without blinking, just gaze into and through your eyes, through to the other side. They say the eyes are windows to the soul. If you look into your own eyes for a long enough time, you will start to see something that may not be familiar. You may even see your face start to change. Let that happen. And also let whatever it is that looks through your eyes, that which is the light of conscious awareness within your body’s form – let that awareness become awake and let it be present. And let yourself make contact directly with that. See how it affects you to stay with the presence of your true self, in quiet direct contact. Does your energy expand? Do you want to look away, to return to your daily tasks? See if you can stay with it just a little longer, remaining fully awake and present to what you’re feeling. Let the intensity grow. The presence that is your true self is always there, if you are willing to pay attention to it.
By admin, on January 4th, 2011 It is wonderful to deepen your self-inquiry. But make sure you don’t get obsessive or caught in the trap of self-criticism. Self-awareness is not the same as brooding or wallowing in self-pity – God forbid! It is most important to hold yourself with a compassionate and forgiving gaze, not an accusing one. In fact, the beginning of a new year is the perfect time to turn over a new leaf, and leave the lose-lose cycle of “compare and despair” behind you forever. Self-knowledge is liberating, but only when it is true knowledge, in the widest sense. For that you must learn to see yourself with the same love and acceptance that Spirit sees you with. Remember that when you are tempted to judge yourself, you are only seeing a tiny speck and magnifying that out of all proportion. To see the whole picture of yourself in your truth, you must include all your traits, your idealism and your vulnerability, your highest intentions, the aspirations of your soul, and the purity with which you came into this life. That is still who you are, under whatever disguises you may sometimes wear. Encourage that one to step forth now, and embrace that one. Express your gratitude and allow all of you to become integrated as the one being you are. Let the whole you play!
